Indication:Vitrakvi is a targeted cancer therapy used to treat solid tumors with NTRK gene fusions. It works by inhibiting TRK fusion proteins that promote cancer growth. Approved by the FDA in 2018, it can be used regardless of tumor type when no other treatment options are effective.

Vitrakvi is indicated for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients with solid tumors that have a neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase (NTRK) gene fusion, without a known acquired resistance mutation. These tumors must be either metastatic or where surgical resection is likely to result in severe morbidity, and there must be no satisfactory alternative treatments or the cancer must have progressed following treatment. This indication is tumor-agnostic, meaning Vitrakvi is approved based on the presence of the NTRK gene fusion rather than the location or type of the cancer, making it suitable for various tumor types such as lung, thyroid, colon, and pediatric cancers like infantile fibrosarcoma.
