What is Bizengri (zenocutuzumab-zbco) and its mechanism of action?

Bizengri is a monoclonal antibody that targets HER2 and HER3 receptors, inhibiting their dimerization and signaling pathways involved in tumor growth, thereby exerting anti-tumor effects in HER2-driven cancers.

What types of cancer is Bizengri approved or being studied for?

Bizengri is primarily studied in HER2-positive or HER3-positive cancers, including metastatic breast cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, particularly in cases resistant to standard therapies.

How is Bizengri administered?

It is administered via intravenous infusion, typically every 3 weeks, under the supervision of an oncology healthcare professional.

What are the common side effects associated with Bizengri?

Common adverse effects include infusion-related reactions, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, and rash. Serious side effects may include cardiotoxicity and hepatotoxicity, requiring monitoring.

Are there any contraindications or precautions for Bizengri?

Yes, patients with known hypersensitivity to monoclonal antibodies or prior severe infusion reactions should avoid Bizengri. Cardiac function should be monitored during treatment.

What kind of monitoring is required during Bizengri treatment?

Patients require regular assessments of cardiac function (e.g., echocardiograms), liver function tests, and monitoring for infusion reactions and other adverse events.

Is there any data on resistance mechanisms to Bizengri?

Resistance may develop via mutations in HER2/HER3 or activation of alternate signaling pathways; ongoing research aims to better understand and overcome resistance

What are the potential benefits of Bizengri over existing therapies?

Bizengri offers a targeted approach that may overcome resistance to other HER2 or HER3 inhibitors, potentially improving outcomes in difficult-to-treat cancers.
