Fotivda offers a treatment option for those whose cancer has not responded to previous treatments .

Fotivda is indicated for the treatment of adults with relapsed or refractory advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) who have received two or more prior systemic therapies.Fotivda is particularly suited for patients whose cancer has progressed following therapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors and/or other tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It is used as a third-line or later-line therapy and has demonstrated efficacy in delaying disease progression by targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3), which are critical for tumor angiogenesis (blood vessel growth).

FAQ

Fotivda is a prescription medication used to treat adults with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC)—a type of kidney cancer—that has returned or worsened after two or more previous treatments. It is a VEGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor, which means it blocks specific proteins that promote the growth of blood vessels that supply tumors.

Fotivda targets and inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, 2, and 3). By blocking these receptors, it reduces the tumor’s ability to grow new blood vessels, thereby slowing or stopping tumor growth.

  • Dose: Typically 1.34 mg taken once daily.
  • Cycle: Take for 21 consecutive days, followed by 7 days off (28-day cycle).
  • How: Swallow the capsule whole with or without food.

No. Fotivda is a targeted therapy, not traditional chemotherapy. It specifically inhibits tumor blood vessel growth rather than killing all rapidly dividing cells.
