Indication:Vpriv is a prescription medication used to treat Type 1 Gaucher disease, a rare genetic disorder caused by a deficiency of the enzyme glucocerebrosidase. Vpriv is a type of enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) that works by providing a man-made version of the missing enzyme, helping to break down the accumulated fatty substances and alleviate symptoms.

Vpriv is Indicated for long term enzyme replacement therapy for type 1 Gaucher disease for pediatric as well as adults. Gaucher disease is a disorder which is caused due to the deficiency in the glucocerebrosidase, it leads to accumulation of fatty substances in the body. Gaucher disease is a type of genetic disorder. Type 1 Gaucher disease is also called non-neuronopathic disease as the brain and spinal cord are not affected.

Dosage:

Recommended dose for Vpriv is 60 Units/kg administered every other week as a 60-minute intravenous infusion. There can be dosage adjustment and maintenance therapy is given to the patient with the goal to achieve therapeutic goals. The suggested dose for maintenance therapy is 15 units/kg to 60 units/kg. 

Adverse reactions: 

  • Hypersensitivity reactions are reported in clinical studies in patients who are on treatment of Vpriv.
  • Infusion related reactions such as dizziness, headache, pyrexia have been observed in patients in clinical studies. 

Storage:

  • Stored in a refrigerator at 2 to 8ºC.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Protect from light.
